Sara Mutschlechner was driving friends home from a party at 2am when a black SUV pulled up beside them and they got into an argument.
Witnesses told police that suspects in the shooting of a 20-year-old UNT student were at this party overnight. Five or six men in a black SUV reportedly drove up to Mutschlechner's auto, exchanging words with passengers in her vehicle before multiple shots were fired at her auto.
The auto crashed into a utility pole.
Mutschlechner was taken to a nearby hospital and put on life support.
"She is by far one of the most spirited, honest and fun-loving people I ever had the privilege to know".
"We're sure that a lot of people at the party would've recognized who was in that vehicle and maybe be able to tell us who they were", Denton police officer Shane Kizer told ABC News.
A GoFundMe page has been set up at www.gofundme.com/wmh7tmdk to help the Mutschlechner family in covering funeral and medical costs. They remembered a young life cut short in an apparent case of road rage that has police working to find her killer. "She was someone that always made people smile, always made people laugh and just have a good time no matter what you were doing", Chaillot said.
A Gofundme account set up to help Mutschlechner's family had collected $1,800 in donations as of early Saturday evening.
