Gambhir's side Delhi had trounced Dhoni's team Jharkhand by 99 runs on Wednesday, December 23 and after the match the players shook hands to congratulate and commiserate with each other.
Meanwhile, Gambhir took to micro-blogging site Twitter to dispel the rumours and said his image of shaking hands with Dhoni made more news than PM Modi's visit to Lahore. No Jharkhand batsmen played consistently except MS Dhoni (70*).
A video clipping shows Dhoni going around and shaking hands with all the Delhi players, but when he approaches Gambhir, the latter just avoids eye contact and walks past the Indian wicket keeper. But now, Gambhir came with a proof that he actually had taken Dhoni's hand after the game.
Few days back, a video went viral in which skipper of Delhi, Gautam Gambhir is seen ignoring handshake with India limited over skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Thus, many of them questioned Gambhir about his behavior on the field.
Gautam Gambhir lambasted the media for the reports and shared photographs on his official Twitter handle of him shaking hands with MS Dhoni after the quarterfinal match. It was a big win for Delhi, that sealed their semi-final spot in the tournament. But their hopes were dashed in the final after Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel smashed his maiden List A ton to win the trophy for his team in Gujarat. Dhoni had sought to get match practice ahead of next month's Australia's ODI and T20 tour, by playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy and scored 179 runs at an average of nearly 36.
