The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps them find the person who put raw bacon on the door handles of a Las Vegas mosque.

The FBI said in a statement Wednesday that agents are trying to find the man seen in a surveillance video putting the meat on the entrances of the Masjid-e-Tawheed mosque. Authorities call it a desecration of the Islamic worship center.

Officials caught the man tossing bacon at the backdoor of the mosque on camera.

Surveillance video shows a man meticulously wrapping the raw meat around the handles early Sunday morning.

A worshipper reportedly discovered the bacon when he arrived at the mosque around 5:45 am that day. Another man grabbed a napkin, took the bacon and put it in the trash.

Practicing Muslims are forbidden from consuming pork, and "bigots often use pigs or pork to offend Muslim sensibilities", the press release added.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations called the incident at the Masjid-e-Tawheed mosque a bias crime.

A spokesperson for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told BuzzFeed News that, as of Tuesday, no federal agencies are involved in the investigation.

One of the mosque's founding members said fellow members are concerned about the crime and are calling it a "deliberate attack" on their religion.

According to CAIR members, a total of 71 crimes against mosques across the United States have been reported this year, up until December the 16th, their prevalence having more than tripled in comparison with 2014, when just 20 such hostile gestures were committed.
